About the Program

The NYSCA/NYFA Artist as Entrepreneur Program is a three-and-a-half-day professional development experience designed to help artists build sustainable creative practices. 

 

Presented by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, the program brings together artists from across the Adirondack North Country region to explore practical tools for managing, promoting, and sustaining their artistic work.

Participants will explore topics such as:

  • Strategic planning

  • Marketing and promotion

  • Financial literacy for artists

  • Fundraising and grants

  • Writing about your work

  • Legal considerations for creative professionals

Through workshops, discussions, and peer collaboration, artists develop a personalized Artist Action Plan to help guide the next stage of their creative practice.

Who Should Apply

Artists of all disciplines based in the Adirondack North Country region of New York State are encouraged to apply. This includes: • Visual artists • Writers • Musicians • Performers • Interdisciplinary artists • Emerging and mid-career creatives ​ The program is designed for artists who want to strengthen the sustainability of their creative practice and connect with a supportive community of peers.
