More about Annual Fund
Our 2016 Annual Fund letter from our Board President and Executive Director:
One year ago at about this time, it seemed that the future of the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts (known by many simply as the Arts Center) was unclear. Today, we are very pleased to report that the Arts Center's future is indeed clear, stable, and back on track. And planning is already underway to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2017!
Since March of this year, the new leadership has been both producing and hosting theatrical performances, concerts, workshops, and more at record speeds. Together, the staff and Board launched a variety of special events including the June Jubilee, July Auction, and the Great Arts Benefit. We completed a successful season of the Adirondack Lakes Summer Theatre Festival, offering 14 performances of three productions, which traveled to 10 Adirondack hamlets and towns. Six gallery exhibitions, five workshops, four Second Saturday concerts, and three Tuesdays@TheAC performances rounded out the rest of the season. More than 2,500 people have enjoyed our offerings to date, and the year isn't even over yet!
As a Quad-County NYSCA Decentralization (DEC) site, The Arts Center’s DEC coordinator and a panel of volunteers reviewed and awarded $90,000 in re-grants to 35 smaller cultural organizations and five artists in Essex, Clinton, Franklin, and Hamilton counties. More than 20,000 people enjoyed art exhibitions, concert series, and storytelling and art projects throughout the Adirondacks, all thanks to Arts Center staff and volunteers.
Our members and donors are dedicated to ensuring that the Arts Center’s future remains bright by attending our events and performances, renewing their memberships, and stopping by to share recommendations for the future. We heard your comments and have already begun to implement changes as suggested.
Some of the changes are obvious; some more subtle. A friendly face now greets patrons the moment they open our door. The gallery spaces are alive with a variety of stimulating exhibitions, and we’ve been told that the Arts Center has never looked better. The website is up to date with the latest activities. The gift shop is overflowing with the work of more local artisans, many new to the Arts Center. We collaborated with two local theatre companies, Gem Radio Theatre (Indian Lake) and Pendragon Theatre (Saranac Lake), to bring unique performances to the Arts Center. We've engage our local artisans to teach classes. We hosted our first combination open mic and poetry reading (our Slam & Jam), which was a great success. And plans are underway to add a holiday-music program to our annual Soup Social in December!
All of these wonderful events and activities would not happen without your financial support. We truly appreciate the last annual fund gift you made and respectfully ask you to consider increasing your support this year.
Together we can ensure The Arts Center will remain on track and continue its great work by providing our communities with art, music, theatre, dance, sculpture, exhibits, crafts classes and more.
