So, what exactly is a hop? Sean Jewett, our brewer, beer whisperer, says "It’s not beer if there are no hops." From 1840 to 1909, New York State was the nation's top hops producer, and until the late 19th Century, the center for US brewing. New York is now the leading state for craft beer, with over 400 breweries. Sean will talk about New York's historic leading role in the brewing industry, and how the Adirondacks support the American hop renaissance.
In 2009 Sean Jewett brewed his first batch of beer on his kitchen stove. He was instantly enthralled with the art, science, and process of brewing — ultimately growing his own hops.
