In the Blink of an I: A Creative Flash Writing Workshop

Each of us holds infinite beautiful, complex, and sometimes conflicting truths. Sue William Silverman writes, "The 'I' in creative nonfiction is a literary device used to enhance and explore complicated truths." In this three-hour generative workshop, we will explore the art of flash writing to help us uncover, explicate, and archive such truths. We will examine writings from Naomi Shihab Nye, Roxane Gay, Diane Seuss, and others, engage with a variety of writing prompts and exercises, and emerge with our own flash writing pieces. Whether you are hoping toplay for a few hours or leave with a draft towards publication, this workshop will offer something for everyone.
