The Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation dept. presents an outdoor art installation by two artists, Matt Burnett (a Long Lake native) and Scott Fuller. The pieces were finalists for the Beijing Olympic sculpture contest. Funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization re-grant program administered by the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts.

Winter Shorts! Ten-Minute Play Festival: Auditions/Rehearsal

It’s winter in the Adirondacks, what better time for short-shorts! 6 towns, 6 different casts, 6 short-short plays . Winter Shorts! is a short-short play festival that will be performed in 6 different communities throughout the Adirondacks this winter. Winter Shorts! will feature 10 minute plays by such playwrights as Anton Chekov, David Mamet, Wendy Wasserstein, Tony Kushner, Eugene O’Neil, Arthur Miller, Tenesse Williams, and many, many more…

Ever want to perform but don’t have the time? Don’t want to travel the long distances to rehearsal? Or are you worried about memorizing lines? Winter Shorts! is the perfect solution. Actors old and young, experienced and beginner, are invited to a one-week intensive acting experience in your own town. Audition on Sunday, rehearse Monday – Thursday and perform on Friday night.

Join us in the audience to support your friends and family from the Long Lake area at the Long Lake performance of the first annual Winter Shorts! Be prepared to laugh, cry, and applaud all in a really short-short period of time. Each production in each town will feature different actors and different plays.

Rockin’ To Oz: A Living Able Production

Soul Steps: African American Step Dance Performance

Soul Steps speaks the language of rhythm! For over a century, step dancers have used their bodies as musical instruments to create a new physical language that inspires, celebrates and forges community. Soul Steps brings this explosive African American art form to the stage in a high-energy performance where Afro-urban rhythms and personal narratives relay cultural stories and explore an artistic legacy. In an interactive, 60-minute performance, students are invited on stage to learn the dance, share in call and response interludes, and become participants in the celebration!

A Tribute to the Troops with Peggy Lynn

Singer-songwriter Peggy Lynn and the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts present an evening of song and stories paying tribute to the men and women who bravely and selflessly served and continue to serve their country. Featuring video interviews of local veterans and original patriotic songs by Peggy Lynn, this tribute is the perfect way to spend Memorial Day Weekend.

Nunsense The Musical: Live on Stage!
Friday June 3rd 7:30pm Family Friendly Event
Location: Long Lake Town Hall
Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show. Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz, and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon. Featuring local performers Virginia Jennings, Beth Lomnitzer, Linda Rusch, Jodie Seymour, and Jamie Strader.
