Winter Benefit for the Arts
Saturday, Feb. 5th 6:00pm-9:00pm Family Friendly Event
Location: Minnowbrook Conference Center
Join us for an exciting evening dinner and cocktail party, complete with silent auction, musical entertainment, and a video short by artist Matt Burnett at the historic Minnowbrook Great Camp. Overnight accommodations are available on Saturday night, including a continental breakfast on Sunday. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to spend the night in the rustic elegance of Minnowbrook Lodge, normally open to private parties only. Head out on a snowshoe trek or cross-country ski if you want to add outdoor adventure to the indoor fun. This year we have some amazing silent auction items, including 4 tickets to Walt Disney World, a weekend at Greatstone Lodge in Long Lake, and a “Ski the Adirondacks” Package that includes tickets to Gore, Whiteface, and many other area mountains.

Stewart’s Cooking Challenge returns for a second year. Teams compete to create 3 dishes in one hour, using only a microwave and ingredients bought at their local Stewart’s shop. Prizes awarded for best appetizer, best dessert and best entree. Sit down with teams after the challenge for a unique family-style dinner.

Cultural Blueprints Workshop: Basic Accounting & Budgeting for Non-Profits

Led by CPA Susan Svoboda, an experienced accountant with over 25 years of experience in non-profit accounting, this seminar will focus on creating and refining basic accounting principles including chart of accounts, classes, and payroll as well as a focus on budgeting and tax reporting requirements.

Photography & Painting on Castle Rock
Saturday May 21st 10:00am – 5:00pm Teen & Adult Workshop
Location: The AC!
Hike Castle Rock Trail and explore two mediums: bring your paints and your camera! Take photographs along the way and enjoy lunch on the rock. After lunch, learn plein air painting techniques with water-mixable oils. Taught by experienced artist and photographer Matt Burnett. Materials list available. Wear hiking gear, bring your own camera, lunch, and snacks.

Nunsense the Musical: Live on Stage!

Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show. Featuring star turns, tap and ballet dancing, an audience quiz, and comic surprises, this show has become an international phenomenon. Featuring local performers Virginia Jennings, Beth Lomnitzer, Linda Rusch, Jodie Seymour, and Jamie Strader.

A Return to Painting
Saturday, June 4th 10:00am – 3:00pm Teen & Adult Workshop
Water-mixable oils with Matt Burnett: A painting workshop for beginners to experienced painters. Learn several approaches for landscape and still life painting in oils without the chemicals. Participants will complete one still life and one wet on wet landscape painting, working on canvas board and panel.
$40/$30 members

Pastels by Joanne Quinlivan
In this new series of work, the artist explores the pure natural beauty of the Adirondacks. Her style utilizes the rich color pigments of pastel to capture the immediacy of light in the natural landscape. Ultimately, through her investigation of nature, the audience will see the wonderful places and moments that the artist is sharing with us.

Monoprints by Kristine Corso Tolmie
This series of monoprints by artist Kristine Corso Tolmie reflect an interest in recording the intangible quality of observations and experiences with natural schemata. They are based on an investigation of the subtle shifts in color, value and form that are the essence of a particular place as it evolves over time. As unique prints, these works serve as frames of reference that document shifting perceptions and impressions of the world.
