Odysseus D.O.A. at the Red House in Syracuse
Red House Theater, Syracuse
Performances run January 21st – 29th
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest meets Angels in America through the mind of Homer. This poetic, hilarious and heartfelt drama charts one man’s journey to live a life worth being remembered. Red House and Writer/Director Stephen Svoboda of the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts join forces to mount the first professional performance of this astonishing new play.
About Odysseus D.O.A.
"The play takes place in a hospital where Elliot, in the final stages of his disease, has come to die. But it really happens inside Elliot's very vivid imagination, where,in the confusion of his disintegrating mind, he has become the the great legendary hero Odysseus. Svoboda creates a poetic, surreal and wonderfully humorous world for Elliot to occupy in this majestic play.
Elliot and his "crew"---his fellow patients on the AIDS ward---are heroic and wise, and they deserve renewed life in productions of Odysseus DOA for years to come"
